Another version of a Mayan waiter

Okay, I think I'm improving. At least I seem to be headed in the direction that I want. Who cares whether it meets anyone else's criteria. I love to draw with pen and ink and my goal in learning watercolor is to splash some color into my ink drawings a la Danny Gregory. So there you go and there I am...critique welcome!

Wow! Beautiful watercolour! Very lively colours and I like the combination of marker+WCs. I also like the other portraits and the colours you used. Very nice works.

Lovely lively colours. I find the more I struggle with watercolors the stiffer and deader everything gets. Then I relax in the way you have done, and suddenly find life in my painting. But I still have to go back to struggling ... and then suddenly you find that you've actually made a step forward after all, when you weren't even paying attention.

Now Kay - this has character and I love how alive the colours are. Super. Also...thanks for pointing me in the direction of Wrick's comments - very helpful! Like you, I like the illustrative style and am interested in using the watercolour to enhance drawings and such - hopefully some kind of individual style will emerge out of that!
