Another quilt

Well, yesterday I bit the bullet and put two quilts in a local juried show. I have no idea what will happen but will find out tomorrow. The juror teaches graphic arts so who knows what he will go for. This has been a big learning curve for me...3 down and 3 to go with binding. It is really tough trying to get the binding printed and straight but I'm learning all along. On this one I tried using some multi-colored thread on her turban to indicate the wonderful fabric this woman uses. I took this from a sketch of her I did at meeting of local artists.
I am open to suggestions on how to use this medium better. I'm tempted to applique and turn to a different sort of art quilt but for now I am content to keep transfering my contour drawings.
I am already missing my drawing class. I get so rusty in the summer and am determined not to let that happen this year and to keep drawing and keeping a sketch book with me at all time.

Amazing job Kay!! I clicked on it & tried to see the larger version but it doesn't show... some chinese characters apperead. Anyway, you're really good at it. Is it all made by hand or with a machine? Hugs.

Wonderful work, Kay! I've just been having a look at other recent things too- your watercolors are sublime. I'm soo impressed with the way you can draw with a sewing machine - this was a real treat.

Oooh, I love this! It is just amazing! Best wishes with the show, and remember -- it's SO very true -- that a juried show is just a crap shoot! Someone recently said that she was talking to a juror who admitted that she would probably have selected completely different pieces on a different day.
:-) Still, I just feel certain this will get in -- it's truly amazing!!!

I think you are using this medium beautifully, and while I have seen some other works by artists who are translating their sketches into stitched fabric, I have never seen anything quite like yours. The thing that makes yours unique is that the drawing you are drawing from was done in your hand. I think you should keep exploring this. It's beautiful.
